Dottyart workshops began after Donna was bored at a weekend craft fair and asked the passing children if they wanted to have a go at painting on some wooden clothes pegs she had with her. This brought plenty of attention. One set of parents tried to give Donna £5 as they had never known their hyperactive 7 year old daughter stay still and quiet before! The total number for children who joined in painting escalated over the weekend.Donna took addresses from the children’s parents and posted the pegs to them once dried.Donna then offered her daughter’s school St.Paul’s Primary School,Oswaldtwistle some free workshops, which again proved worth while.Donna has since taken part in n run projects in Blackburn Town Center where it was open to the public and Nelson Town Center where she taught a class of school children from Lomeshaye Junior School,Nelson Lancashire.
A testimonial from Mr Anwyl from St.Paul’s Primary School,Union Road,Oswaldtwistle,Lancashire.
Dottyart visited school over the course of a week and ran workshops with each year group. The children were engaged throughout and soon realised that they could all create something imaginative and colourful whatever they thought of their own artistic ability.Brief but clear instructions and demonstrations where given by Donna, who then spent time with individual children who were finding the technique more difficult than others.Every single child in my Year 6 class produced colourful and personalised dotty clothes pegs of which they were very proud. The whole experience was wonderfully hands- on,relaxed, enjoyable and the outcomes for the children were very positive.”
